About This Blog
"From our Collection" is a place where we share what we're hearing, seeing, in the world of Bagaduce Music, both at our campus in Blue Hill, Maine, and out on the road.
Bagaduce Music is a hub for community music on the coast of Maine. We've got a performance hall, a library, gardens, and a campus that's open to the general public. We've got millions of sheets of music from over 270,000 titles. We host weekly classes and ensembles in Blue Hill and Belfast. We're talking A Roving Shanty Chorus, a Spelmanslag, a Community Chorus, a Children's Chorus, and a Bluegrass Ensemble, all going at once - among other things, like summer camps for kids of all ages. A community of people who take music seriously without taking themselves too seriously.
This blog is our attempt to document the aliveness of it all. Snippets: a rehearsal that gives us chills, a book someone's carrying home from the library, a concert in fresh Maine air, a musician we meet somewhere unexpected who turns out to be part of the Bagaduce web.
It won't always be polished. Some posts will be short. Some will just be a sound and a few sentences about where it came from. That's the point.
